Title: Principal Software Engineer

Abstract: Part 1: Highlights of SpringOne 2010
- SpringSource Tool Suite

- Spring Roo

- Spring Batch

- Spring RestTemplate

- Spring SpEL

- Spring Social

- Tomcat 7

Part 2: REST with Restlet 2 and Spring RestTemplate in OSGi
- Rest in 15 Minutes

- Restlet in 15 minutes

- Spring in 10 Minutes

- OSGi in 10 Minutes

Demo: creating a REST server using Restlet and accessing it using Spring RestTemplate. The example will invoke a REST server running in an OSGi container (Apache Felix). The server side will be implemented using Restlet 2 while the client side will be implemented using Spring 3 RestTemplate.
At the end of this demo, the attendants should be able to walk away with a basic understanding on how to use those technologies and how to deploy them to an OSGi container such as Apache Felix. The demo will focus on Restlet 2.0.3, Spring 3.0.3, Spring DM 2.01M1 and Apache Felix 3.0.1

Bio:Willhelm Lehman’s software engineering career started in the early 1990s; as he was introduced to this industry, he chose to focus on operating systems and software deployment models. He later discovered J2EE, which he used sporadically until he was introduced to the Spring Framework. Willhelm is now a Spring Framework evangelist and uses the concepts introduced by the Spring Framework in every software development aspect – this includes non-J2EE projects.

Willhelm is currently focusing on the synergy of software development and software deployment. He has presented at JavaOne on behalf of InstallShield why Java-based deployment solutions are superior to that of shell-based deployment solutions.
