Title: The Smart GWT Framework

Abstract: Smart GWT is a complete web framework, offering a robust set of GUI components, databinding systems and extension points necessary for the creation of full-featured Ajax applications. With Smart GWT, you write your code in Java, and via the Google Web Toolkit, this code is translated into JavaScript that runs without cross-browser compatibility issues.

Bio: Alex Raugust has worked in legal services IT for over 15 years, having held positions at a successful software startup, a corporate legal department, and a law firm. He is currently with the Superior Court of San Diego.

Title: Robotics and Java

Abstract: For 5 years, Wintrisstech school has been organizing the annual International Autonomous Robotics Competition (iARoC) for children. Every year, the school also coaches several of the participating teams. We will talk about this competition, the challenges that it poses, and the children's amazing solutions to these challenges. We will also talk about different robot and computing platforms that are available, some of which we have tried out, the enhancements to hardware and software that we have made, and our experience with the different combinations.

The 5th Robotics competition will be held June 23/24 at the Ruben H. Fleet Center in Balboa Park.
