Title: What's new in Java 8

Abstract: We have John Clingan from Oracle to talk to us about what's new in Java 8. As you probably know Java 8 is the most significant release of the Java platform in years. The discussion will include new language features such as Lambdas, Functional Interfaces, Type Inference, Streams, Date Time API, Nashorn JavaScript Engine, Java Profiles, and more.

Bio: ‎John Clingan is the product manager for Java EE and the GlassFish application server at Oracle, and Sun Microsystems before that. He also has product management responsibilities for EclipseLink, the JPA implementation behind GlassFish and WebLogic, and Project Avatar, a server-side JavaScript runtime. Prior to Oracle, John was a hardware pre-sales systems engineer that specialized in Solaris and Java. He is currently also a Java EE instructor at the UC Irvine Extension program.
