Title: "Learning How to Build Event Streaming Applications with Pac-Man"

Abstract:
Since Pac-Man was originally released in the '80s, it has been a beacon of fun and joy for people of all ages. What few people know is that this game can also be used to inspire developers on how to build event streaming applications. In this near-zero-slides talk, attendees will get to see the game being deployed in a cloud provider straight from the GitHub repository, and once deployed play with the game to generate data. As they play, the presenter will build from scratch a scoreboard using KSQL -- an event streaming technology built out of Kafka Streams. Finally, a microservice will be used to monitor in near real-time the computed aggregated statistics from the game, revealing whoever is the most proficient Pac-Man player in the room.

Speaker Bio: Ricardo is a Developer Advocate at Confluent, the company founded by the original creators of Apache Kafka.
